search engine optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines organic search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users.

85% of all website traffic originates from the search engines, with the majority coming from a major search engines like Google. If your company has an online presence but doesn't have high rankings on the major search engines for your targeted phrases then you're not getting much traffic from them. The key is to follow accepted or "white hat" SEO methods to increase your search engine listing.

SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is very important.

While all the websites we create are all optimized, we also do optimization for other websites (typically along with a website re-design). SEO involves;

  • Review of your site content or structure

  • Technical advice on website development: for example, hosting, redirects, error pages, use of certain code/scripts like JavaScript

  • Focus on keywords

  • Content development

  • Management of online business development campaigns

  • Metatag research

  • Review of analytics

  • Creating incoming links

  • Submitting to search engines

  • Markets and geographical research

  • Reporting on optimization results

Keep in mind that the Google never accepts money to include or rank sites in our search results, and it costs nothing to appear in the organic search results. There is no quick way to the top. Should a website use illegal or "black hat" methods it will be removed from search engine results all together as they only want to display good results to their users.
